Knights of Columbus and Phase Two Building Improvements

Knights of Columbus We welcome six new First Degree Knights of Columbus from Mater Misericordiæ Mission bringing our total number of Knights to twelve with two more members approved and waiting for First Degree. CONGRATULATIONS new Knights. MMM has also been granted Round Table status from our host Padre Serra Council #7114. We need to double our membership in order to petition for our own council. All gentlemen of the Mission are encouraged to become Knights to better serve the parish and to increase in your individual faith. Please fill out a membership card in the vestibule and a Knight will contact you. Mater Misericordiae Mission Phase Two Improvements This week we are applying for a building permit with the city of Phoenix for building front aesthetic improvements, a new roof for the 56 year old sanctuary, a garage and a beautiful multi-purpose courtyard for the enjoyment of the parish. If all goes well with the permit process, we will be starting the work by the beginning of the May. If anyone has an expertise in the elements listed below and are interested in bidding on the work, please contact Father Terra by e-mail. The construction elements required are; concrete, car-pentry, masonry, stucco, gypsum board, plumbing, electrical, roofing, sheet metal, painting, glazing, ornamental iron and brick paving.

FSSP 2012 Calendars are now available. They can be purchased for $13 at the information table in the vestibule after Sunday Masses from now until January 8, 2012. New Year's Eve Holy Hour: There will be a Holy Hour on Saturday, December 31st, New Year's Eve from 11:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. A Plenary Indulgence may be gained with the public recitation or singing of the Te Deum at the end of the year (which will be sung at the beginning of the Holy Hour) and with the recitation or singing of the Veni Creator Spiritus at the beginning of each year (which will be sung at the end of the Hour).

PHOENIX: Special Sunday Mass Schedule on October 9: Due to parking restrictions caused by a street race held in the neighborhood, there will be a 5:00 pm Low Mass on October 9, in addition to the 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses. PHOENIX: No Potluck in October: The parish will not be holding its monthly potluck in October. The potluck will resume in November. FLAGSTAFF: The Flagstaff Mass, previously scheduled for the second Sunday of the month, is rescheduled for the third Sunday of the month at 5:30pm.

First Communion Mass: tentatively scheduled for May 22, 2011, at the 11:00 High Mass. Confirmation: June 5, 2011 at the 11:00 AM High Mass with Auxiliary Bishop Nevares. Exposition and Adoration: The Most Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for adoration on Monday and Thursday mornings following the 6:30 a.m. Mass until 11:00. All are invited to come and keep Our Lord company and pray especially for the sidewalk counselors that stand in front of two abortion mills, one on Eugie in Glendale; the other on 7th St. here in Phoenix. Prayer is of the utmost importance in bring the scourge of abortion to an end. Those who cannot come to adoration are still encouraged to remember this intention in their homes and workplaces during these hours.

Sunday, January 23rd- 2011 AZ March and Rally for Life: Commemoration of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Decision will continue on Sunday, January 23, in Phoenix with the 38th Annual Pro-Life March and Rally. Attend Mass with Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Following Mass, join hundreds of supporters of our precious unborn, in a March to Steele Indian School Park. At 1:00 p.m. the annual Pro-Life rally will begin with inspirational speakers, music, and the annual diaper drive, as we gather to "REMEMBER the 50 million lives lost to abortion, CELEBRATE those mothers who chose life, and BELIEVE in victory for life with God's help!"

Message from Fr. Terra: Artist’s Rendition of the Church Interior

My Dear People, As many of you have noticed, a great deal of work has already been done on the church, much of it with the assistance of yourselves. I'm grateful for your hard work. Without it this project simply would not be possible. The tasks remaining to be completed are the drywalling, roofing, brick work, flooring, painting, etc. When this work is completed it still leaves the decoration. The artist's rendition of the church interior was on display after Mass. Making this a reality will depend on us. This is a great opportunity to give to God a beautiful house.
